Amin Shams is a doctoral candidate in finance at the University of Texas at Austin. His primary research interests are empirical asset pricing, FinTech, and forensic finance. Amin’s job market paper examines how different investor bases across the globe drive variation in cryptocurrency returns. He also has a published paper in the Review of Financial Studies on potential manipulation of the VIX index and a working paper on the influence of Tether on cryptocurrency prices, both coauthored with Professor John M Griffin. Prior to his Ph.D. studies, Amin received a masters in global policy studies from the LBJ school of public affairs at the University of Texas at Austin.
